Basically what the title says. I have 2-factor authentication set up with GMail and use the GMail app on my iPhone and iPad. The way the app seems to work is you use 2-factor authentication once when you configure your account, then forevermore it opens your email when you open the app with no password or pin requirement. Gmail is instant - make sure it's not set for battery optimization. Also check settings in Gmail under your account name, not general settings, all the way at the bottom there a sync Gmail option, make sure that's checked. Settings in the app have changed over time, double check them. I have over 5 email accounts and 10 of them are all handled by Apple Mail on my iOS, iPadOS, and macOS device (s) (I don’t use non-Apple devices in my daily life). 4 of those accounts are Gmail accounts.
